Girl Scout Overnight
Recently, Bonnie went on her very first overnight camping trip. It’s a great troop – it’s a multi-aged troop of homeschoolers – I’m so glad to have been put in contact with them. Fun leaders, fun girls. No cliques, no complaining – all the girls were cheerful, helpful and kind. It was really positive for Bonnie!
Here she is making her good-deed beads. One of the mottos is “Do a good turn daily”, so this is supposed to help remind her to do a good deed each day. When she completes the good deed, she slides one of the beads down. And at the end of the week, she can turn it over, and start all over.

Some of the girls in our troop have life-threatening allergies, so we did all our cooking from scratch. No box mixes! We even did biscuits – don’t they look delicious?

They’re cooking in the box ovens that we made. We learned a lot about cooking in those babies, that’s for sure! And the rest of the lunch? Chicken and rice stew. Again from scratch, and again, delicious. Bonnie didn’t even complain about the mushrooms that were inside!

The girls had lots of time to hike and play outside, and then we tackled a scrapbooking patch. Here’s Bonnie working on her album of girl scout friends. It was so much fun watching the girls – no inhibitions, no fear. Adults could learn a lot from them!

And, after dinner, well, it wouldn’t be camping without S’mores!

There’s so much to go into – we took over 300 photos on the one overnight! But, a good time was had by all.
